ItemHighlighter configuration

Five settings, plus the highlight data file.

The file

After the first launch with the mod installed, you will find config/itemhighlighter.json next to your other configs (in .minecraft/config for the default launcher). It looks like this:

Colors are packed hex RGB integers (16777045 is 0xFFFF55, the default gold). Your actual highlights live separately in config/itemhighlighter_data.json (up to 256 items, oldest dropped first); that file is per-player data, like a second save file.

Settings

Key	Default	What it does
`enabled`	`true`	Master switch. Set it to `false` and the mod does nothing at all until you flip it back.
`defaultColor`	`0xFFFF55`	Highlight color used by bare `/hl` with no color argument, as packed hex RGB (`0x000000`–`0xFFFFFF`).
`showTooltipLine`	`true`	Append the colored `★ Highlighted` line to highlighted items' tooltips. Turn it off to keep just the texture highlight.
`hotbarHighlight`	`true`	Draw the texture-hugging highlight over highlighted item sprites in the hotbar, offhand, inventories, and containers. Turn it off to keep just the tooltip line and world glow.
`matchComponents`	`false`	Only highlight stacks identical to the held one (same enchantments, custom name, damage, and other components). Off means every item of the same type highlights. Highlights made in one mode only match in that mode.

Changing settings

You have three options, pick whichever is closest:

Edit the file with the game closed, then start the game. Simple and foolproof.
Edit the file and reload live with /mycel reload itemhighlighter in game. No restart needed. See commands.
Use the config screen from the mod list (Forge and NeoForge). Same five settings, with reset buttons.

Broken file?

If the JSON gets mangled (bad edit, crash mid-save), the mod logs a warning and falls back to defaults rather than crashing. Delete the file and restart to get a fresh one.
